When is the challenge?
Step by Step: The 46km Challenge runs through the month of May. The movement challenge begins on Thursday 1 May and ends on Saturday 31 May 2025 at midnight. You can start at any time during the month to move 46km your way.
You can fundraise any time before, during, or for a month after the challenge ends.
Can I only count steps?
Step by Step: The 46km Challenge is an activity challenge, which means you can be active in whatever way you choose. Whether it’s biking, swimming, running, walking, or however else you want to keep moving, it’s allowed. Just adjust your activity goal to whichever form works best for you!
Do I have to set my movement goal as 46km?
No, but we do encourage it! The 46km goal represents the 46,000 young people experiencing homelessness in Australia. It’s a powerful way to raise awareness and funds.
We know that 46km can feel different depending on how you move. Cycling, you cover distance faster than if you were to run, walk, or even swim.
That’s why you can adjust your goal to suit your movement style and fitness level. Whether you go for the full 46km over the course of a month, do 46km in one day, or set your own target, every move you make has an impact!
